And how should we have done that? The failure was on the Republicans part to be unwilling to impeach him. bUT FOR THE Last four years the rest of America, including the left, has essentially gone back to their same old rhetoric as if the Trump administration hadn't happened. I think it was for weeks after he was sworn in when the left started arguing that there was no difference between the two parties.

All through the leadup to 2024, they sounded the warning on Trump. At no point were they willing to give a full throated endorsement of the Biden administration. The Biden administration did everything in its power to let the left in. They were indifferent. They didn't want Biden to run for reelection and didn't they didn't want Harris well before their hand was forced. They didn't want Trump to be President but they didn't want to vote for a Democrat. And god knows given all of their activity of the campuses and their attitude towards everything involve the Middle East, they made it very clear that they blamed the establishment for what was going on.

Some lefist organizations acknowledged that Trump would make things worse for Palestine but they still supported the protest movement. On the eve of the Biden/Trump debate, Daily Kos said regardless of who won the election, America was screwed because the economy and it DESERVED TO FAIL.

On the eve of the election, The Nation ran an editorial from its interns which negated an editorial endorsement for Harris saying that NEITHER Harris nor Trump could bring about the desired solution in Gaza NOR could they protect democracy.

I do hold the left accountable for this. I expect this kind of blatant hypocrisy, hatred and disrespect for our institutions from the GOP and the conservatives but I would think particularly given the previous Trump administration they'd at least be willing to acknowledge that there is difference between the two parties. By and large that never came. They would acknowledge that Trump becoming President would lead to full-on unraveling of every institution we had, but they couldn't bring themselves to swallow the idea of the Democrats because...they weren't doing enough, even though they won't tell you what 'enough is'.

And then in the aftermath, they did what they always do. They blamed the system for allowing this to happen. That they have spent decades pushing away many who will help them into the other camp while doing everything in their power to not paritcipate in the political process themselves makes them unindicted coconspirators in every the GOP has done in the 21st century. They are painfully aware how the conservatives have destroyed the system but that's only because they weren't smart enough or popular enough to figure out how to fix it so there's people got in charge.

The Democrats made a deal with the devil in the leadup to 2020 that ultimately did what it always does: it helped the left but it hurt the Democrats nationally. The left doesn't want to be part of the system, it wants to tear everything down as much as the GOP does. They are not in favor of reform and they're too lazy for revolution. So I think a part of them wanted Trump to destroy the system so that finallly America will embrace the left's vision - which is all they have, no idea how to realize - and finally put them into power without them having to dirty their hands.

The Democrats have been trying to sell themselves as the party of stability and order and that's never been what the left wants any more than the GOP under Trump. And since the GOP is united above all else - the Democrats could not stand at against the assault from within. Biden and Harris were in an impossible position and the left put them there in a small way as much as the right did. They've long had an all or nothing mentality and in a democracy they could never accept the half loaf. They've made that clear over and over and over on this bloig to me.

I truly think some of them wanted this to happen. Not directly, but in the passive aggressive way the left can be about so mnay things. They don't have the numbers to bring about the change themselves, they want society to do it for them. Whatever happens in the next four years I do hold the left partially responsible. If they don't want to accept that...well, I'm hardly shocked because nothing is ever their fault
