Anna Paquin came out ok though it took awhile, but I see your larger point. Quite a few child actors - Evan Rachel Wood among them - have frequently called out Hollywood for just how horribly it used up and spits out the children that work in its industry. Sadly this goes back practically to the founding of the industry. Some managed to come out to long careers (Mary Pickford) some were never the same (someone mentioned Judy Garland). The film industry has an obligation to the child actors it exploits the same way it was willing to do to African American Actors, Latino Actors and basically all other minorities. Those groups only started getting their fair share when they began to organize. And we can't expect child actors trying to go through adolescence to be able to do that for themselves. All we can do is keep raising awareness and shaming the industry.
