I actually wrote an article about Little Children for my column, under the title 'The One Kate Winslet Oscar Nomination You haven't Seen." I think it is one of the masterpieces of the 2000s, ignored by the academy because:
1. Tonally it was a small film in a year that was concentrating on epics.
2. It was basically a comedy advertised as a drama.
Tom Perotta has become one of the great literary sources for Film and TV. This was Todd Field's second masterpiece. This year he is making his third film after a nearly sixteen year absence from film and TV where he starting. I'm going to track dOWN Tar in whatever theater is playing and watch it.
