I admit I ignored the rumors about Whedon for years. I didn't want to believe that the writer who had created such magic that had made me really love television was another one of those monsters. Then I heard Charisma Carpenter explain the real reason she 'left' Angel. And I couldn't deny it anymore.

I haven't tried to watch a Whedon series in awhile. Hell, its been hard to even read Buffy fanfict which for over twenty years has been one of my greatest joys. But now more than ever it has been critical to seperate the artist from the art. Was Woody Allen a great artist? Yes. Can I willingly watch any of his movies again? Probably not until he's dead, and at least a little beyond that.

It's hard dealing with the kinds of people who work in media. But I think the fans should be the final arbiter. It's okay to love Buffy even if you hate Whedon. It's a transcendant work of art. We could love before we knew who Whedon was. We should be able to love it afterwards.

After years of laboring for love in my blog on TV, I have decided to expand my horizons by blogging about my great love to a new and hopefully wider field.
