I agree with you Good Will Hunting is a terrible movie in that's its cliched and basically shows that a janitor who seems to be a genius thinks he can afford to be arrogant because he's smarter than people who worked their entire life. I also hate the idea that for all the smart people trying to get him to see the benefits of the real world he has to listen to his working class best friend telling him he's wasting his potential. And I think it was a complete and utter waste of the talents of Gus Van Sant, the legendary indie film director who fully admitted the only reason he made the movie was so he could make enough money to never have to work to raise money for the projects he really wanted to - which is a far more honest motivation than any of the characters in the film.
I do get your story and I also understand the problem of the fantasy. Bear in mind as someone who got a university degree, it took me nearly a decade to find a simple job, so no guarantees that way either. Don't know if that will make you feel better, but there it is.
