I always liked Fiorentino's work as a performer but there were other disadvantages. The first role she got after this brilliant part was as the title character in William Freidkin's Jade. Written by Joe Ezterhas , the man who had invented his own femme fatale in Basic Instinct, the film was clearly an attempt to shoehorn Fiorentino into the same kind of role Sharon Stone had played. This was a misstep as it misunderstood the entire point of Last Seduction - Bridget's sexuality was the least of the reasons she was such a brilliant antagonist. Ezterhas basically tried to turn Bridget into Catherine Tramell and the results were disastrous - for everybody. David Caruso's film career never recovered, Ezterhas' career as a screenwiter was basically over and Friedkin's career as a director of studio films was essentially done. By compariSON Fiorentino managed to appear in a few decent films in the aftermath but when she wasn't invited back for the sequel to Men in Black, her career in Hollywood was effectively over. This was a travesty.

BTW, there was a straight to video sequel to this with Joan Severance taking over the role played by Fiorentino. Severance's career, sadly, had a similar trajectory to Fiorentino's - after breaking big in her role as Susan Proffitt on Wiseguy her career more or less went from guest star appearance to direct to video releases, which ranged from mildly erotic to out and out pornography. Sadly her highpoint in TV in the aftermath was a role on a spinoff of The Love Boat. Maybe Bridget Gregory was as much a career killer as it was a career maker.
