I always thought if he'd come along a decade later D. Morgan would have been one of the greatest showrunner. The thing is, he seems to have made these decisions by choice. He would come in on one of the show's his brother was working on (he did the same when Glen and Wong were running Millennium) and write a few scripts in which he tore down all the pretensions of the series they were working on. (I actually refer to one of Darin's scripts in a piece I did on Millennium, which you should be able to find if you look.). The Whedon and Waititi comparisons are more than fitting: there's a bit of Morgan in say, Buffy's Superstar and Our Flag Means Death is basically a Morgan version of the pirate genre. Morgan's star shone briefly but his influence is felt to this day. And we should count ourselves lucky for the scripts of his we got. I certainly do.
