I believe in the theory of logic that says if A is bigger than B and B is bigger than C, then A is bigger than C. SImilarly if a series is better than certain series that OUR nominated for Emmys in a certain year, then they deserved to be nominated.
I have never liked The Handmaid's Tale (that may be sacrilege I don't care) I ffound Westworld hopelessly confusing though it had a lot of great acting and I'm pretty sure that by season 5 HOUSE of Cards had become a slog. Season 6 of Homeland was superior to all of these shows at that time, therefore it should have been nominated for Best Drama instead of any one of them. I also believed that The Americans (another spy drama that looked at espionage from the other side of the Cold War) should have nominated instead of one of those series and I agree with you that Rupert Friend deserved a Supporting Actor nod - certainly more than Mandy Patinkin did.
I've written several articles on Homeland myself recently. Would you like me to send you the links so you can compare notes?
