I can't say for sure but I'm relatively certain that the other major Hollywood moguls from Jack Warner to Sam Goldwyn all made Harvey Weinstein look like choirboys. I say this because they treated everybofy who worked for them - writers, directors, actors, down to the coffee boys - as if they were little more than slaves and had far more power than the studios do today (though Hollywood has a lot) to destroy a person's career. In their case, if they wanted to cancel you they could and would do it.

And let's not hide the fact that while all of these men were mostly Eastern European emigrants and new just how racist and undemocratic America was, they were willing to shuck and jive to the censors to make sure that the Hollywood version of America - no African-Americans, no homosexuals, all ethnic roles being played by white people, all minorities playing stereotypes and no sex at all even during marriage was the America millions of filmgoeers saw on their screens. In a real sense the conservative movement basically believes in the Hollywood version of America from the first half of the 20thc century all the way to the 1950s. I don't know if it was deliberate or not, but I think so much of the purity movement of the Moral Majority and beyond is entirely built because of what Hollywood produced in the years before the Production Code was revoked and in that I do hold them all as unindicted co-conspirators at least.
