I didn't know you reviewed video games to. Or is the nostalgia?

You want to know how old I am? At eight years old I bought an NES with Super Mario Bros and Duck Hunt on the same cartridge. I remember an era where sometimes to save a game you had to write down a long and complicated password. I remember the Konami Code and who Justin Bailey was in Metroid. I remember when nintendo and genesis were separate systems and the idea of Sonic and Link fighting it out on the same system might have only occured in video game fanfiction.

I am for the record, extremely old school, when it comes to video games . Several years ago I purchased a dual nintendo/snes player so I could use my old cartridges. (Another thing, I remember when you had to sometimes BLOW on cartridges to make them play.) I stopped updating my systems with the PS2 because it would have meant letting go of to many old classics and I refuse to buy a new system just to play upgraded versions of the same game. (My best friend in the world follows that torch, but he still owns an SNES.) i Keep thinking reasons to upgrade - the most recent version of FFVII rebirth make me consider it but I am not the kind of person who wants to spend a few hundred dollars every so year even if I had the disposable income to do so for slightly better versions of games.

That said, I do remember Super Smash Bros in various forms and I almost considered by a variation on the N64 just to be able to ahve Mario beat the crap out of Mega Man. (I'll be honest, it was the possibility of accessing Ness as a hidden character that intrigued me. Earthbound is one of my all time favorites.) I've never been quite as fond of fighting games as I have RPG's or quest games but I could make an exception in this case, mainly because of the whimsy that is absent from fighting games. (Well, there were exceptions. You ever hear of Clayfighter?)

I sometimes browse ebay and consider getting refurbished versions of classic systems merely to get access to game I missed at a certain point. Smash Bros would be one such game, and I'll be honest. I might be fine with the original. Like I said, when it comes to gaming I'm old school
