I fully agree with you on this statement as a TV critic on every element of it.

I admit to having a general loathing of Shonda Rhimes in general (I actually think Scandal and HTGAWM had even less redeeming value) and I found every aspect of Season 5 of Greys Anatomy loathsome. Derek's meltdown over losing a patient after spending four years saying things like "You lose more than you save." Christina's losing her head over a surgeon who choked her. Everything involving Torres relationship with Sloane that season. The basic erosion of T.R. Knight's character after four years of making him the most relatable character on the series (He got out when the getting was good)

But the cherry on the crap sundae was everything about Denny showing up again. At the time, i thought a horrific. I thought they milked every aspect of it for far too long (seriously Alex? Your girlfriend tells you she's screwing a ghost you don't immediately take her to the hospital?) I find it appalling that after such a horrific season, HEIGL's career was torpedoed and Rhimes' took off.

You can say what you will about how this article says about the roles of women in television. What I say sincerely is that when it comes to Heigl refusing to submit her work for the Emmys, I'm astonished that someone at ABC had the nerve to ask her to do so. It's no coincidence that the series has never contended for any major awards since then; I just find it appalling that Heigl's career is dead and that Greys Anatomy just won't die.
