I have conservative friends. Very conservative friends. And I'll admit that sometimes hearing their opinions can be hard to take. Sometimes I do want to scream at them. But I don't. Because that solves nothing.
And to be clear, I would rather spent a weekend with them than an hour in your company. Because for all their flaws, I know what they stand for. I don't agree with it, but at least they have a cogent point of view as to what they believe in.
I have been reading you and writers of the like for over a year and a half. I have seen diatribes of the problems with everything - politics, religion, the superwealthy - and I have yet to see from any of you something resembling a solution.
The GOP, for all its flaws had a game plan and will stick to it - all Democrats are the enemy. That's a truly horrible point of view. But how is yours any better? The GOP is the enemy and the Democrats are the enemy. All politicans - with the possible exception of AOC and Bernie - are corrupt and broken and we shouldn't trust them. This is how the Republicans win. They said the Democrats are the Enemy and you need to vote Republican. The basic message is all politicians are corrupt so why bother voting? When was the last time you voted, btw?
You and your ilk basically scream at the top of your lungs that the world is ending. That is the exact methodolgy of Fox News and their ilk - scare the shit out of people and tell them what they want to hear. But for all their horrible details at least they have an argument, however poisonous. Eleanor Roosevelt once said it is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness. You're find at doing the latter - all of you are. Hell, I'd actually respect you a little if you argued for rioting in the streets - its the worst possible think that should happen, but at least you'd be for something.
Aaron Sorkin once wrote a statement that could be an epitaph for political discourse. "We've got serious problems...and (people) have no interest in solving them. They are interested in two things: "making you afraid of it and telling you who's to blame for it." At least the man he was talking about was trying to win an election. What are trying to do? Honestly?
