I have seen some signs of improvement over the recent years. In Ted Lasso, the difficult relationship between Rebecca and her mother seems to reach a sort of accord in Season 2 and in the second season of Hacks Deb Vance realizes that she had sacrificed her career and that her daughter had been screwed up by making her a source of comedy all those years. Rebecca on This Is Us was a superb mother, even though she was flawed. Leslie Knope had a good relationship with her mother who seems to have been a good parent and instilled a love of public service in her daughter. Still, I do agree with the fundamental level of your premise. It has not helped mattered all these years that in the age of the antihero, so many of these male white protagonists who try to be good mothers (Anna Gunn on Breaking Bad is the biggest example) are recipients of online abuse because they get in the way of the bad men even though they try to protect their children.
