I know it's considered absurd to quote Buffy the Vampire SLayer right now because Joss Whedon was a monster. But he was an idiot. I watched 'Pangs' recently an episode which basically takes this exact attitude for its entire premise until Spike - a vampire - says in exasperation: "You won! That's what conquering nations do! That's what Caesar did. And he's not going around saying. I came, I conquered, I felt really bad about it." Yes America is a monstrous empire built on the blood of other civilizations and races. That is truly horiffice. But before you call yourself a human being first, find another civilization - not only a nation, civilization that survived by not exterminating abother one and taking over their territory. That is the history of mankind. America may have maximized it for profit. Where do you think we got it from? We're an outgrowth of Europe. Find one country in Europe that doesn't have blood on its had at a far WORSE rate than America does. Mankind is monstrous. It has nothing to do with capitalism or politics or any social construct. We are the only species to put other species in cages, to put our own species in a cage. And that's one of our nircer attributes.
