I read an article from Argumentative Penguin a couple of days ago. And I should know better because he's nearly as intractable and absurd as you. But honestly, he has you and your colleague Jessica Wildfire perfectly pegged. He says Jessica is basically a contrarian and that you only believe in people left of Bernie.
I've given up trying to reason with you or your colleague because I know at your core you don't care about reasonable solutions or disagreements or basically anyone who doesn't a hundred percent agree with what you have to say. That you have nothing to say and that you have been saying it for years is essentially inane as well. So I'll put it this way, bluntly:
For decades, many people have jested that Democrats prefer being martyrs to winning elections. I think you and your fellow progressives feel the same way about your creed. You talk a good game, but that's all you do. Being on the right side of an argument doesn't make you right. Indeed, it makes you worse than the conservatives you rage against. For half a century Republicans held their noses and voted for candidates that were morally repugnant and were against everything they stood for for one reason only: they were playing the long game. They wanted Roe V. Wade overturned. Now it looks like it will probably happen.
The problem with you and Jessica and everyone else in your circle is you want to play neither the long game nor the short game. You want everything the Republicans have spent decades accomplishing but you don't want to do the work to get it. Indeed, you argue against the process that might someday result in you getting it. And the second anyone in your circle dares to go along with the majority to get even short terms goals, you consider them WORSE then the Republicans. You turned on Praypal when she dared to compromise.
You are selfish and entitled and you aren't willing to a damn thing to change the system. I suppose you think your bold and smart to say these things in a public forum. Please. You're not a journalist or even an op-ed columnist. You're the inverse of Bill Maher but at least he has the excuse of being a conservative. (He says a Democrat who thinks the best way for them to win is to adopt the Republican platform.) He's repugnant and horrific but at least you know what he stands for. You're not a progressive. You're not even an anarchist. You're a nihilist. Your read on Churchill's statement on Democracy being the worst form of government is simply: "So why should we support it or do anything to change it or hell, even vote?"
Go ahead, pretend I don't know what I'm talking about. I'm not talking to you. I'm talking to everybody else who reads your columns and comments how ridiculous you are. Don't waste your time with her or Jessica or Umair. Sure, they may be right about the end being here, but they're not telling you so you can do anything about it. They don't WANT you to do anything about it. They want you to tell you how right she is so they can keep making money while the world ends around them. In that sense, they're exactly like the establishment they rail against but they offer nothing in return
