I reviewed both Watchmen and The Dark Knight Rises over the last year. You might want to read them because they explained my issues with the superhero film and why I favor them.

For the record Roger Ebert was the only critic at the time of its release who was in awe of the film. That said, he probably didn't know anything of the graphic novel and he was always a huge fan of visually ambitious films which Watchmen clearly was, if nothing else. I do agree with you about the book, which is also clear in my review
