I saw Genesys recently and as someone who had many issues with the entire Terminator franchise (i also disliked the Matrix fromt he start, please consider me a cretin) I actually thought that Genesys was the most interesting version. It had a certain level of cleverness and creativity that I like in most of my movies - and I hate to say this but Terminator really just seemed like a variation on the monster from any of the 80s slasher film.

I love Ahnold; I truly do, but so much of the terminatior is essentially Jason or Freddy personified. He gets knocked down but he gets up again, the only difference is much better special effects.

Genesys by contrast flips the entire idea of Terminator on its side and actually deals with the real fact of time travel on a far more general level. It's an action film, but it has a brain and a heart that I genuinely didn't find in the other films except for T2 and the Terminatior- Young John Connor relationship. It also stuck closer to sci-fi roots which I do love in these movies; was Arnold actually quoting a version of Asimov in the climax?

Anyway my 2 cents.
