I saw this film and thought it was one of the most extraordinary visual movies I'd seen in a very long time. I might have appreciated it more was I not in a theater which had some kind of 'experience' which meant that the seats vibrated, there were light flashes and you got sprinkled with water. (I honestly am surprised that's legal or that it hasn't killed somebody yet.) That said, it was an exceptional experience - and I should mention with the exception of a few random scenes from Fury Road, I hadn't seen a single film in the Mad Max franchise before.

That may have made me appreciate it more, even though I didn't get the majority of the Easter eggs that my friends who'd seen the film had. I could appreciate it for its stunning visuals, it's incredible acting and the brilliant work of the sound. Anya TAYLOR-Joy was the perfect choice for the title role; I've known since The Queen's Gambit that the less her character says the more brilliant she is because you can't tell what's behind that 100 yard gaze. Chris Hemsworth was a revelation to me; like so many Marvel actors, free from the MCU he seems capable of giving performances I didn't think he was capable of.

I agree it's not a masterpiece, but I do think it was exceptionally fun and the ideal reason we see movies in the theater. I was disappointed it didn't do well at the box office; this is the kind of movie that deserves to be seen in the theaters and reseen.
