I think the backlash against the TV It is unfair, especially considering that it was A) done on broadcast TV in 1990 which meant most of King's gore and profanity had to be cut and B) it was two parts of an 1100 page novel.

This article deals with the brilliant collaboration of ABC and King from 1990 to 2006 which produced quite a bit of the best of King's work during that period. I also feel the limited series and streaming has done more justice to King during the last decade than many movies of that era, though it seems that no one in any generation can do Salem's Lot correctly.
I also recommend Nightmares and Dreamscapes for that same gift.
