I understand all the doubts about Biden and I share some of them. I have to say though that I believe to remove from the ticket would guarantee Trump a victory in November.

I actually wrote an article about this which I don't have the courage to publish in this climate because even when I suggest the problems in the actions taken , everyone thoguht it was foolish. I'll give you the high points:

1. We do this now, after all of the primaries have been done and the votes been counted, we've taken any idea that the Democrat party is about preserving democracy as an issue out of this campaign, maybe forever. I may be using hyperbole but the fact is the two biggest obstacles Democrats have been in elections that Republicans have capitalized on for the last forty years has been our apparently lack of competency in both our candidates and the leaders. We do this and we are legitimizing it in the eyes of the undecided voters or devoted Biden voters who might very well decide to sit the campaign out.

That should be the only argument necessary. But let's say we do this. How?

2. Biden makes an LBJ type speech in which he says he will not seek reelection. How do we make this look like a repudiation of bIDEN himself and not the administration? How does whoever campaigns arguing that they support the Biden agenda but not Biden? Of course, this also argues if Biden is incompetent should have stay in office the next six months. This bring us to:

3. Biden chooses to resign. The party then has no choice but to unify around Harris because if they don't their repudiated two Democratic Presidents. And even if we do that, what does it say about the Party? Nixon's resignation happened only because he was a criminal. We're forcing Biden to resign because we think he's incompetent - and if you think that will play well with senior voters WHO vote Democrat, trust me it won't.

And all of this talk about this happening is that the Democratic Party can do all of this - remove Biden from power, put up a replacement candidate - in FULL VIEW OF THE WORLD - and that somehow the entire GOP, alll of the right wing Media and Trump will not notice? That they'll somehow be struck speechless and not be able to pivot? It wouldn't shock me if there's an entire war room at Fox News that has been prepared for this very scenario. That's should be the biggest problem of all with this: it's based on nothing more than that old Get Smart line: "They'll never suspect the element of surprise." The last twenty years of watching the Republicans win has taught me they can withstand anything we throw at them except the will of the voters.

I agree with your fears and reservations about Biden if he runs in November. But I know that if Biden were to leave the ticket that problem would end, but the very next minute we'd encountered all of the problems I've listed plus all the other intangibles that might come up in four months. Am I sure we can win with Biden? No. I AM sure that we will lose without him.
