I'm fine with the idea of reducing income inequality. The problem is, few of today's politicians have a plan as how exactly to do that. i love Bernie Sanders I truly do, and I do believe that raising the minimum wage to $15 was something we should do. And I do think we need to get the one percent to pay their fare share.
The problem is that so many on the left seem to be fine with that as enough. I get our econmic system may be rigged but you have to do unrig with more than words. From TR's Square Deal to FDR's New Deal, Truman's Fair Deal and LBJ's Great Society were based on plans, policies and legislation. Bernie's speeches are great, I grant you, but he was worshipped because he had no real chance of ever becoming President. You have to have a plan and the means to carry it out.
As I said, there are certain aspects of populism that get a bad rap but there is a difference from the Populist Party of the 1890s that had a platform of ideals that were later accepting and the populist rhetoric of so many of today's politicians and activists in place of plans. Someone comes up with a plan to realize these problems I'll vote for them in a minute. Otherwise, it's just a lot of hot air.
