I'm going to my own piece on the Batman films at one point, mainly because the franchise is the only comic book series I think a) is closest to the reality I can accept even in the thin world of blockbusters and b) is the only one where you can tell an individual director left his imprint on it and turned into something other than a cookie cutter franchise.
i MEAN this was a Tim Burton film first and a Batman movie third at most. If I told you Thor was directed by the man who directed Henry V and Hamlet you would never believe me. I don't believe it. I see this in the work of Joel Schumacher Christopher Nolan and even the Lego Batman film. And Todd Philips essentailly has made the arthouse Batman film with Joker. I actually want to see Folie A Deux before I dismiss it as the disaster everyone claims it is. Let's not kid ourselves: we deserve an arthouse musical Batman film even if it wasn't canon.
