I'm in a crappy mood generally right now. So maybe I shouldn't write this. But given that so many articles on this blog are basically arguments saying that we should always be a crappy mood, I'm going to write this. I know it will disregarded as the rantings of a loon or as a misanthrope. I'm beyond caring.

To you, your colleagues and everyone else:

Just shut up. If you had a point to make you all made it roughly two hundred to three hundred columns ago. I chose to write this critique in this article because you end it by saying that every journey brings you back where you started. That is what you - and Umair - and Jessica - and everyone else of you say again and again and again. You disguise yourself as truthtellers, but your capitalists like everyone else you deride. Oh did I offend you with that remark? I assume you write a column a day because you writing nihilism tripe for the sure purity of it, not because you're making a living on this.

It must be beautiful to live in your world. Everything from politics to pop culture can be contorted to fit your point of that the world is fascist, rigged beyond repair and impervious to change. Therefore we should not even bother to try to do anything. Not to vote for candidates who stand against actual fascists, not to bother to organize and protest, not even to enjoy any film. Because everything is propaganda driven to make you forget how hopeless things are. And by the way, keep following my columns that tell you how hopeless things are and read other columns as to how hopeless things are. And feel sure to tell me you agree one hundred percent how everyone else is a sheep and ignore all the people who try to criticize what is wrong with what I write. We need to get other opinions out there, unless I disagree with them.

I'm so sick of you internet columnists who make your living periodically saying how social media has turned us in to mindless followers while we just have to look a few inches to our right to see how many followers you have. You and your tribe are all cult leaders who don't want to encourage their followers to jump because than you'd all lose some of the likes and claps.

I don't pretend that i don't follow the business model, but I'm an entertainment critic. It's my job to give opinions and I don't go out of my way to tie politics into every single thing I review. You take away from it what you want, that's all I ask. If I told my audience that there was no point in watching streaming because I didn't like Ozark and The Handmaid's Tale, it would be pure hypocrisy. For you to criticize every single story every written because it fits some model that you've made up your head is the kind of thing that even the most doped up literary professor or film critic wouldn't write on an acid trip. For you and everyone else, it's par for the course.

I don't do clickbait either. If anything I've cost myself hundreds, if not thousands of viewers because I don't tag my articles with political or entertainment controversy. I want you to find my stuff on your own. Do you write subjects on your wall, throw a dart at it, and then fill in the blanks for every column you write to fit the day? Or do you just look on the first search you do on Google and go from there? Either way, all of your work has the appearance of original thought while completely boilerplate.

But I've interrupted your time. I eagerly await to read your next brilliant original column about how Greta Thunberg is a mouthpiece for the fossil fuel industry. Sound ridiculous? Of course. But it's a logical as any other article you will ever write.
