In the X-Files work of art, Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose, Bruckman says at one point: How could I see the future if it wasn't already written?

Mulder: But if the future's already written, what's the point in doing anything?

Bruckman: Now you're catching on.

That's basically what you and so many writers on this blog have been writing for years and decades about democracy and capitalism and the United States and the world and everything really. But none of you have the balls to say what Bruckman will say.

All of your articles are all the same article. They may deal with variations on a theme, they may have different points of view, they may have impressive statistics that you've either researched personally or maybe just Googled; I don't know and i've given up caring. All of these articles are just(much) longer and constant repetitions of the exchange I just relayed.

The reason Bruckman was so depressed with the world was not because he saw the future. It's because he knew the secret of life: Everybody dies. There's only the time and place that surprise you. There was nothing he could with his 'non-returnable gift'. So many people on this blog are version of Bruckman. They are using longer words and fancy phrase to fit their version of predestination - granted on a larger scale than the personal one Bruckman had - but they just have the same message. They are little people with little lives. At least Bruckman didn't bother to do anything more than sell life insurance and be a good neighbor. Everybody who writes this blog - and I could mention a dozen writer at this point - are using this to make a living. They are essentially saying the end (for democracy/America/the world) is pre-ordained, has been pre-ordained since it began, and why bother even putting ever to do anything? And don't pretend that little message at the end was meant as encouragement. All you and your kind do is expend 1500 to 2000 words saying everything is pointless. Putting in a two sentence, half-hearted push as for something that you can do (always backed up by basically it won't work) has as much effect on your articles as those cancer warnings on cigarette packages. It won't dissuade your addicts, excuse me, readers.

I'm sure you're all very nice, very smart people, but at the very least all of you owe us the courtesy of including in your profile "Professional Nihilist" or "Everything is pointless except reading my blog." I know we live in a world where truth in advertising is essentially a lie, but if you really are the truth-tellers you claim to be, I'd hope you give lip service to in.

Now I'm sorry I interrupted you with this missive. Please go back to explaining why social media is destroying the world and by the way, clap if you like this column.
