It took a while for me to learn this but somewhere on the comments site of each person is an option to unfollow them. Occasionally if someone leaves an answer that is longing to be debunked or leaves an opening, I will attempt to engage and reason with them. More often then not, they don't even bother with a follow up. Some of them I do follow, perhaps out of misplaced hope, perhaps because they are not bad writers in their own right, or maybe I have a somewhat a masochistic streak. The choice is yours. I have to tell you there is a part of me - small but still out there - that hopes they can be reached and reasoned with.
That said, I've also recieved infijnitely more supportive columns on my own writing then hate speech. I should also mention I'm not the same kind of writer as you. My major profession on this blog is criticism of TV, film, books - and some professional criticis. I've recently moved into history, both political and baseball. The op-eds I write are a small part of my output, so I'm going to get a different type of audience then you will. Why I haven't receieved my own kind of hatred is somewhat hard for me to comprehend - I know from my oen readings critics can be as trolling and offensive as political commentators - but no one's ever written a screed because I thought Euphoria and Ozark were immensely overrated pieces of trash.
Anwyway, follow my advice but be sure to hear your own drummer. You seem to have a good compass on this thing. I look forward to reading more of your work.
