I've come to think that many of the people who call themselves conservatives and progressives are just mirror version of reactionaries. Forf the conversatives any change to the world order will lead to downfall of civilization as we know it. For the progressives, only a complete and utter radical rehaul of every America and the world have done for the last four hundred years (updated every five minutes) is acceptable. The major difference between the two is that, historically, the conservatives have always had better ability to message during the last fifty years and the left has never been able to come up with anything concrete when it comes to either a pragmatic solution or a way to win over anyone outside their own bloc OVER NEARLY TWO CENTURIES. As has been made clear by the Squad, they have implausible ideas that have no real popularity outside their bubble and think that the only reason the country - not the Democratic party but all of society - hasn't come to the inevitable conclusion that they and they alone are the only ones who should be able to make decision because they are right.

I often wonder if the left doesn't realize just how much they have in common with so many of the conservative intellectuals. It's not like Sam Alito or Ted Cruz got their law degrees out of a cereal box, and one can pick up given the nautre of Project 2025 the same contempt for the average citizen that the left more than clearly has. The only difference is - and the left still doesn't get it - is that the right at least the ability to fake empathy for the average American. The average leftist can't even be bothered to do that - I see it in their disdain for red states in comparison to blue ones and every single time they argue against the electoral college. Eight years after the fact many leftist still believe the only thing Hilary Clinton did wrong when she called Trump voters 'a basket of depolorables' was take it back. (Daily Kos, the leading progressive publication, said as much in March and still defends it.) They wonder why year after year the right votes for Republicans in red states who clearly vote against their interests. Yeah, but they show up every two or six years. The left would rather create new states than bother than even visit the ones that they believe are beneath them. Whatever you might think about the Republican voters, they can tell contempt when they see it. And the Democratic Party - and the entire country - is paying for it now.
