Ok. Well with that in mind. I take back what I said. Don't get me wrong. I appreciate all the work that you and your colleagues are doing and I fully support your strike.

Here's some facts: The bosses will win. They will win not just because they have all the money and power but because the public does not care about your struggle. They do not care about your struggle. They want to see their shows streaming and live and they do not want to pay one cent for them. Why do you think streaming is so popular in the first place? It appeals to the publics desire to get everything as fast as they want and totally free. They might be giving you all the support now because it costs them nothing but when they start getting bored of reruns and old movies they will turn on you. I have a friend of mind who just two weeks said she hoped the strike would end because she wanted new stuff. They don't care how much sweat and blood you put into this. Everyone's pro-union until it effects them. The bosses know that very well, and are counting on it.

And for the record, statements in your reviews about whether the purpose of cinema is not for everybody to see it will not help your cause even in private. Half of America already hates you and what you do just on principle. The other half only supports as long as you produce for them. To make a statement that the success of your profession has nothing to do with its popularity really doesn't make you sound good. I do understand your frustration for the record - as a critic I really wish I didn't have to look at The Mandalorian and be forced to consider it along the same lines as say The Crown or Better Call Saul.

I support your stand fully and I hope you can win rights for yourself. But right now tone is everything. I have a feeling that if my fellow critics who reviewed Barbie would be along the lines of 'Better Than It has Any right to Be." I myself would much rather see Oppenheimer because that is the kind of movie I prefer on a general principle. I don't particularly like the MCU or comic book movies in general. My own reviews have said as much.

I feel your frustration when movies like this are successes. Just try not to take it as personally as I undertsand you have every reason too. Our jobs are tough. I am a critics but I am a writer and my statement on support for the strike was genuine. Indeed, I intend to write a column more on support if only for selfish reasons (there's too much television I want to catch up on, so take as much time striking so I can do so.)

I rarely get a chance to talk to somewhat like you and I do understand (at least partially)your frustration. Good luck.
