pERHAPS i WAS GLIB there which I try not to be. I don't know enough about Amnesty International as a whole though I did give them money once a long time ago. I DO know that the majority of the notifications I've received on them asking for funding have focused entirely on the crisis in Gaza and have fundamentally ignored almost every other major human rights crisis in the world, including other hot spots in the Middle East. I suspect that much of this is about fundraising and Amnesty is following the money like everyone else. The most generous interpretation of their deciding to ignore other events is Israel is that they have sensed the hostility towards Israel from the liberal community which has always been one of their biggest donors and are trying not to risk becoming the target of the kind of excoriation anyone who tries to argue for Israel is getting everywhere (including as you are well aware, on this very site) Either way, I think Amnesty International has betrayed its mssiion statement in favor of public pressure and it looks very poorly on them.
