Perhaps it is more a descriptive term: a series that is limited in the amount of its run, one season rather than many. Admittedly, sometimes that it does not necessarily hold, considering the trend of some so called 'limited' series to, in fact,become series Nine Perfect Strangers and Your Honor were renewed for second seasons, and Nicole Kidman has announced Big Little Lies is going to have a third season. (I have written more than my share of reviews on all three, you can find them without having to look too hard.

I actually think there are more pessimistic Spielberg films then just Munich. A.I. is hardly a cheerful film, and while Minority Report and his version of War of the Worlds technically have hapy endings, they are very dark in subject. Still that is as high as I will count.
