Some of these films may have gotten technical nominations but I think the overall message would fit:
A Night At The Opera
The Court Jester
Mean Streets
Once Upon A Time in America
Badlands
Crazy Stupid Love
Get Shorty
To Die For (Nicole Kidman)
Dark City (Better than the Matrix and I'll die on that hill)
Lord of War
Hoop Dreams (Documentary BUT still)\
Carlito's Way
The 25th Hour
Please check on imdb.com to see if I'm wrong whwether any of these films receievd nominations for editing or score. I'm not certain. I remember seeing Mean Streets, Badlands, 25TH Hour and Dark City in Ebert's books of Great Movies and he didn't mention if any had received Oscar nominations at all, something he usually talks about. We all know what a scandal it was about Hoop Dreams thirty years later, and I'm betting Simon could fill you in if you are unawate.
