Some personal lowlights in recent years

Forest Gump: Not only is it one of the worst films to win best Picture, here are the films it beat:

Pulp Fiction

Shawshank Redemption

Four Weddings and a Funeral

Quiz Show.

Here are some films that weren't nominated that year:

Bullets over Broadway

Ed Wood

The Lion King

I love Tom Hanks, but this was a robbery.

1995: Braveheart

This film was neither a critical success nor a box office hit. Its reputation hasn't improved over time. Why did it beat Apollo 13 and Babe?

Why was it nominated over Leaving Las Vegas, Dead Man Walking and The Usual Suspects, all regarded as modern classics? What did people see in that movie that I don't?

2000: Gladiator

Another odd year. How did that film get nominated ahead of Almost Famous and Wonder Boys, two most of the marvelous comic films in history? How did it beat Traffic, which was actually about something (and did take Best Director and Screenplay) Was it all about Russell Crowe, who to be honest should have taken the Oscar the previous year for The Insider?

I could make an argument about Titanic but that's a personal grudge more than anything else. If you have an opinion about the previous three, let me know
