Started Severance can't wait to finish it. Oz never got credit for starting the revolution that the Sopranos gets credit for (or for introducing the world to Edie Falco - offfically)

Immediately gratifying is always hard for me to try and decide as limited series tend to give joy more easily than most dramas. However, here are five that come to mind:

The Kominsky Method: Michael Douglas plays an actor who never made it whose been teaching for decades. The series is about his friendship with his even older agent (Alan Arkin) and about getting old in Hollywood. Hysterically funny from the first two minutes.

Pen15: Maya Erskine and Anna Konkle play themselves as seventh graders in 2000. Forget the gimmick, I almost instantly believed them. More to the point, they know exactly what it was like to be a seventh grader in 2000.

Dark Winds: You might be forgiven for thinking that are only British mysteries made for television. This adaptation of Tony Hillerman's beloved mysteries set on the Navajo reservation couldn't come at a better time. Cast entirely with indigenous actors, updated but anachronistic, this series HAS put AMC back on the map. It was renewed for a second season. Start watching it now.

Cruel Summer: I have had mixed blessing with Freeform over the years, but within ten minutes of this 1990s set mystery I was hooked. I named it my best series of 2021. The HCA, in its inagural TV awards, named it Best Cable Drama over Pose and Lovecraft Country. I'm not going to say anything else about it except go to hulu and start binging it.

Breaking Bad: I was an idiot - it took me to the third straight Emmy by Cranston to start watching this masterpiece. Now every time AMC does a marathon I'm there. Believe me, the first three minutes of this series instantly leave you wanting more. The fact it didn't work for me - well, everyone makes a mistake and this was one of my biggest.

Let me know what you think, cause trust me I've got more.

After years of laboring for love in my blog on TV, I have decided to expand my horizons by blogging about my great love to a new and hopefully wider field.
