Thank you for your review. Because of Knightley's nominations by the Golden Globes and the Critics Choice for Best Actress, this series was on the should I/SHouldn't I watch list. This one seems like one I should avoid so thank you.

I happened to find Slow Horses first two seasons exceptional and thought the first season of Lioness has much to say about the War on Terror I found insightful. (I'm not sure the second holds any virtues.) I also liked Mr and Mrs Smith immensely, but mainly because it was a vast improvement from the original film which I thought was pure popcorn. This at least some depth to it.

I am in full accord with you about the whole antihero/heroine trope which has been giving me diminishing returns for awhile - Ozark never appealed to me and I'm beginning to think the entire True Detective has a lot of great performers saying nothing at all in portentous tones. I also loathe all things in Shondaland for this saason and real the whole antihero trope is starting to become exhausting. I'd like some moral ambiguity in my shows but series like this just show people doing horrible things with no empathy or humanity.

I should mention the majority of the dramas that have lasting powers for the decade so far are Will TRent, The Gilded Age, Yellowjackets, Slow Horses and Dark Winds. Some of their leads are flawed but heroic, some of them are trying to do their best in a morally ambiguosly world and in the case of Yellowjackets, it's jsut so much FUN. yOU'VE Done your due diligence with Season 1 of Black Doves. Now do what I do when I get tired of series like this. Feel free to never watch another episode again.
