The Last unicorn. A dark, depressing, brilliant animated series from a novel by peter S. Beagle. It was made in 1982 when you were lucky if you could get one decent name to voice works. Here's the cast:

Mia Farrow

Alan Arkin

Tammy Grimes

Jeff Bridges

Angela Lansbury

Christopher Lee

How the hell did the animators land them? Was it because Beagle adapted his own book? The movie somehow got a G rating, but the most loose reckoning for the rating system was give it a PG-13 Today. My sister wacthed it on a continuous loop on VHS when she was eight. She was always smarter than me.

This is one of the great animated films of our time, but it was a box office disaster and has faded into obscurity. There are cable services carrying. Its got to be on Amazon or Netflix somewhere. Track it down. Find it. It is a dark movie (I mean that terms of colors as well as subject) but you'll never forget when you see it. It is a saga of the world of fantasy and what it means to be human. I will say nothing more. Track it down. See it. Thank me later.

(Ralph Bashki was mentioned below. I'm pretty sure this is one of his.)
