There is very little separating many critics from online trolls save that they take far longer to show their visceral contempt for the subject.

This isn't so much an insight into movies but as to my observations of so many critics over the last film critics, particularly in the New Yorker and other New York publications. I gave up reading the New Yorker film reviews because all the critics had made it clear that their approval of a film was directly proportional to the fewer number of people who could see it.

I agree with you on all of your points. As a critic myself I have come to realize that so many of my fellow critics are elitist snobs who believe that everything that is made is a work of art when it is a product of capitalism. This isn't social medias fault, critics seem to forget that Hollywood is a business first and any art they make is incidental. I actually think that judging any movie we have to remember that first. It might not make our lives as viewers more fun but at least we'd be able to appreciate your last point more.
