When Us was announced I made up my mind I was going to see in the theaters and I prefer seeing horror movies at home because I'm slightly cowardly and need to channel chase if things get to dark. That's how much I wanted to see this film. And it remains in my opinion one of the best films of 2019. Nyong'o was ROBBED of an Oscar nomination and she absolutely would have been a better choice for a second Oscar than Renee Zellweger - and that's coming from someone who loved Judy when it came out.
I agree with you on ASTER Completely when it comes to Beau is Afraid. I don't think Nope was nearly as self-indulgent and certainly it was more compact. It remains to be seen if Peele will continue in this direction, though I have more confidence in his ability given his longer history both in TV and film.
