You know. I was going to link an article I published just last week about you and every other columnist like you on this site. But at the end of the day, I now realize that I don't have the heart for it. So here is my last column for your blog and basically everyone else:
WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE?1
Seriously! For the last year, you and your ilk have been writing every day sometimes for than once about how American democracy was doomed after tuesdat, You called Biden a corporate politician who wasn't keeping any of his promises even though the rules of the Senate and the margins in the house said he couldn't. You called basically every Democrat running in the Senate and the house (with the possible exception of AOC and Bernie) traitors and not really interested in doing what was right for the people. You basically condemned every leader in the party. You even had the gall to undercut the attack on Paul Pelosi by saying you had no use for his wife's politics. You basically spent the last year getting ready for the apocalypse.
Well, the apolcalypse didn't happen. The Democrats are going to hold the Senate. The Republicans have a razor thin majority in the house at best and there's a still a thin chance we might hold it. Democrat governors won across the country, including the first two lesbian governors and the first African American governor of Maryland. Abortion was voted in to the constitution of five states including Kentucky and Montana. Perhaps most important election deniers across the country were denied gubernatorial, congressional and secretary of state spot in swing states across the nation. Democracy has been preserved. Republicans are reeling. Democrats have defied history.
But are you happy? No. You can't even be genuinely supporting for AN ENTIRE COLUMN without putting in dig for the Democrats. You can't even write about the preservation of our institutions without saying that things will still get worse. You're glad Republicans lost, but you and everybody here is still upset Democrats won.
I'd think you'd be thrilled that Democracy got renewed for another election cycle at least. I mean the less power Republicans have, the more time there might be to actually fix or save everything. And the longer it takes for that happen, the more time you have right your pedantic, doom-crying columns basically saying that everything is doomed and there's nothing we can do to stop it. Not even the fact that this election is THE PRIME EXAMPLE of what happens when you motivate millions of people to stop a threat will stop you from this certainty. America as we know it didn't end tuesday and you seem as disappointed by this as the MAGA extremists you berate every other column.
I'm done trying to reason with you and any other writer in your circle. The glass is always going to be half-empty with you and the half that's full is arsenic. Stop pretending your any less self-centered than so many of the people you rail against. You don't care about democracy or people's basic human right or the world at all. You are just like all the people you rail against: you're a capitalist trying to make a living off the suffering of others.
So go ahead. I'm sure your next column about how Democrats could have won bigger margins if they'd just listened to you is already pre-written; you're just going to have to make some minor edits where it says they 'lost control of both houses of Congress. And those of you who have decided that she speaks the gospel, go ahead and keep drinking the Kool-Aid. I know she doesn't have the courage of her convictions, but that implies she and her ilk actually have convictions. So please keep commenting about how everybody in both parties in media is stuck within their bubbles. I know now you'll never see the irony in this and I'm tired of trying to point it out.
