You left out the reference to the unspoken rule of Dick Cheney during W's adminstration as well as the idea of the Grand Unitary Theory of the Executive which as we all know is the Republicans dream. It is only slightly worse that the Progressive theory of the executive in which the President can bring about complete income, racial and gender equality with the power of his mind. (This isn't a joke for the record: there is a theory called the Lantern theory in which Progressives were upset with Obama because they seemed to think he could bring about progressive policy the same way the Green Lantern uses his ring to conjure anything._)
Slightly joking aside, I find myself unamused by the hypocrisy of billionaires owning the govenrment and the left will just say "so business as usal" and decide that voting is pointless anyway. The left seems to go through grief different then most people: they have only two stages - denial and anger. Bargaining means you compromise you never do that. despair is not something they beliee in and they don't accept elections that Democrats win as legitmate, based on how that waited maybe a week after biden was sworn in to go back to there 'there's no difference between the two parties'. They've made it more than clear that the world has no real freedoms and apparently every post they make on sites like this is done under risk of imprisonment. Rational people would take the results of this election as a sign that most Americans don't believe in the leftist ideology which seems to have become the loudest voices of the Democratic Party the last decade. The left, as we know by this site, is many things but they are not rational.
They've already blamed America for being racist, sexist, homophobic, backwards and completely owned by the billionaires. And the leftist fundraisers seem more than willing to follow them into this denial. I've lost count of how many text blasts I've seen over the last month arguing that because of the 14th Amendment Trump should be banned from holding office. This is just as much election denialism as we saw Trump engage in four years ago when it comes to accepting the results. Trump won by far the biggest margin of the popular vote in his three runs for office; there is no electoral college to blame here, no broken system. Yet there is every sign that the same patterns for the left that happened eight years ago are going to happen in the aftermath of his being sworn in. America knows who Trump is and they chose him over an agenda that has become increasingly progressive by a mjority of the votes. Yet the left has chosen to excoriate Democrats and those people in the media who have chosen to accept this reality. Last I checked Kamala Harris conceded and has decided to move forward for her party.
The Democratic Party is exactly where it was in 2016 with no control of the Presidency or either house of Congress. The Democrats have been listening to the left ever since 2018 and it has gotten them - relatively nothing. The coaltiions that have been part and parcel of the Dems for much of the 21st century are increasingly voting Republican and the working class white vote has dropped to its lowest number since before the Depression - 34 percent. Listening to the left's talking points is increasingly leading them to become a minority party. The left seems to acknowledge Republicans are destroying the country and will only make things worse. But if they don't put on their big kid pants and start learnign to be like grownups - which means compromising, finding a way to win over people who disagree with you rather than push them away, stop calling people who you don't like racist and find a way to work within the system rather than basically walk away from it - well, this is the future they have. Since according to them it's no different from the present or the past, I suppose they'll be okay. But if they actually cared about the people who will suffer under these policy, they might want to stop marching and start voting.
