you strike me as an educated woman, so i assume you know basic math.

When FDR was President, he had 68 Democratic Senators and over a hundred fifty seat majority in the house.

LBJ has a similar huge margins.

Even then, they had to make compromises. In order to pass the New Deal, FDR had to promise Southern Democrats that he wouldn't make any major changes to Jim Crow era policies. LBJ had to remove the Voting Rights part of the Civil Rights act and even then, he had spend twenty days getting enough votes to invoke cloture. As a reward, the Democratic Party effectively lost the South.

Of course, had either of them done this day, you would be bashing FDR for making deals with bigots and LBJ for compromising in the first place.

Joe Biden doesn't have these margin, as you well know. I don't know how he's managed to do as much as he has with so little room for error. And yet, somehow, you think he just should barrel ahead because compromising is for the weak.
